Want to see the Vecht valley from a different angle? Step aboard and get carried away by the rippling waters of the Vecht. The river Vecht is a versatile cruising area full of fascinating stories and beautiful pictures that pass you by while swaying.

Pleasure yacht, canoe, canal boat, sup or romantic sloop... Whatever you choose, the meandering river through the beautiful green landscape makes for an unforgettable trip either way.

The Overijssel Vecht is the largest of the small and the smallest of the large rivers in the Netherlands. With a length of 167 kilometers, of which sixty kilometers are in the Netherlands, there is always something to experience. Those who love nature will be enchanted by the unique flora and fauna and might even spot a kingfisher or bank swallow! Do you like action and are not afraid to get wet? Then discover how beautiful the Vechtdal is while paddling.

Did you know that there are locks you can just paddle through? That is a happening in itself! When it is time to stretch your legs, you can tie up at one of the beautiful viewpoints along the Vecht or at a jetty with a disembarkation point. This way you can easily combine your boat trip with a visit to one of the sights or activities that the Vecht valley has to offer.

Historic steamer A special way to experience the Vecht is a cruise on the Vechtzomp. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, barges were used to transport goods by water between the Grafschaft Bentheim in Germany and Hanseatic city Zwolle. By the end of the 18th century, more than four hundred zomps were sailing on the Vecht.

Nowadays, the wooden flatboats are electrically powered and are whisper quiet. So you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings almost silently. Along the way, a guide will take you through the rich nature, culture and history of the Vecht.

Vechtezomp De Grammesberghe was the first zomp in the Vecht valley. At beer brewery and skipper's pub the Mommeriete in Gramsbergen you can board for a trip across the border. The zomp sails to the German Laar and back. The boat trip leads you to quiet places along the Vecht that cannot be reached on foot.
