Association the Ommerschans starts again the monthly guided walks through the beautiful, historic and therefore unique area the Ommerschans. Will you join us?
During the one and a half hour walk the guide will tell you about the history of this unique area. Including stories about the sword of Ommerschans (on display in the National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden), the mutiny on the entrenchment, the raid by the Patriots. Much attention is also paid to the more than 700-hectare penal and beggar colony Ommerschans. You will hear not only the historical facts, but also stories about the inhabitants and the daily life at the colony. The guide also tells about the history of CTP Veldzicht in Balkbrug, which has its origins in the Ommerschans colony. Hear how the village of Balkbrug is inextricably linked to Ommerschans.
