September 24 through 30 is National Week Against Loneliness. During this time, many special activities will take place throughout the country, with a special focus on socializing and connecting with others. Ommen is participating. The motto is: “Join us!”
September 24 through 30 is National Week Against Loneliness. During this time, many special activities will take place throughout the country, with a special focus on socializing and connecting with others. Ommen is participating. The motto is: “Join us!”
About half of Dutch adults feel lonely (46.2%). Nearly 1 in 7 people even feel very lonely. Loneliness is the feeling of not being connected. Loneliness has a significant impact. Especially when it persists over the long term, loneliness leads to health risks, reduced participation in society, and a sense that well-being or happiness is lacking.
A vicious cycle can develop in which the consequences of loneliness reinforce the loneliness itself.That’s a good reason to take action now!
