Opening of the “Art Under the Wings” Exhibition: “From the Animal Kingdom”

The opening of the exhibition at Molen de Konijnenbelt is on Friday afternoon, July 10, at 3:30 p.m., and it runs through August 9. During this period, the exhibition is open Friday through Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. One of the artists will always be present to tell you about the work.

Hendriek Veerman has been working with clay for over 30 years. Over time, she has developed her own theme in her “noaberties”—her little neighbors. These are the birds that spend both summer and winter in her garden. They are her source of inspiration. She works with various types of clay and different glazes. For the pedestals on which her birds rest, she uses materials found in nature.

Henk Fikkert, an illustrator and—for the past three years—also a painter, draws inspiration from his love of nature. He has a deep affection for all living things, especially mammals and birds. He not only creates European animals but has also turned his attention to exotic species. Henk’s style is realistic, with his use of tone and color coming across as quite powerful. His black-and-white works, on the other hand, have an almost graphic quality.

Johan and Loes van der Linde work primarily with the Tiffany technique, in which every piece of glass is cut, ground, wrapped in copper foil, and soldered. Everything surrounding the glasswork—including stainless steel, Corten steel, woodwork, and welding—is crafted in their own workshop. They create a wide variety of pieces into which they pour all their passion. For this exhibition, they are primarily showcasing the animals they have created.
