Good news for hiking enthusiasts (and everyone who gets happy about spring): the Krentenbloesem hike is back in Ommen! After several years of absence, this beloved hike will finally return to the calendar in 2026.

And that is extra special, because where for years the walk was organized by the Red Cross department Ommen, this year the walk is taken up with great care and enthusiasm by Hospice Ommen. A nice new step for a walk that has belonged to Ommen for decades.

A true Ommen tradition

The Krentenbloesem walk is anything but new. Indeed, it is a tradition that has been around for a very long time. In all the years hundreds of walkers participated, with routes through the most beautiful parts of nature around Ommen. Think forests, sand drifts, rivers, estates and of course ... those beautiful white blossoms that announce spring. Old reports from the archives even mention editions where you could start early in the morning and choose distances of up to 40 kilometers. And along the way? That invariably included a refreshment, rest stop or cup of coffee.

Also nice: the tour was already organized in 1974, but by bicycle. There was a bicycle available for all participants to borrow!

2026: walking with an extra warm heart

This year the walk not only gets a fresh start, but also an extra meaningful one. Namely, the proceeds will benefit the (new) Hospice Ommen. A place that will be of great value to Ommen and its surroundings, and where hospitality, warmth and care are central. That is precisely why this walk fits in so well: going outside together, enjoying together, and contributing at the same time.

Will you join us?

Whether you are an avid hiker, just feel like a fresh spring walk, or like to support a good cause: you really don't want to miss this hike. So put on your walking shoes, breathe in the spring air and be surprised!
