Saint Nicholas is on his way! This is how to celebrate Sinterklaas in Ommen!

The steamboat is ready, the Pieten are practicing their dance steps, the house for Saint Nicholas is made in the nicest way possible and the first ginger nuts have been baked... In short: Sinterklaas is coming and Ommen is ready!

Do you want to get into the Sinterklaas mood? Then there is plenty to do this month in and around Ommen, from the cheerful entry to cozy dinner shows and of course a scavenger hunt with a chance of a house visit from Saint Nicholas himself. With all these fun activities, waiting for Saint Nicholas Day will be a lot easier!

  1. Paint Sinterklaas cookies by Tamara’s Taartjes.

    In the mood for a creative (and tasty) prep? At Tamara’s Taartjes you can order your own “paint cookies”: cookies to decorate with edible paint—and then, of course, eat. Fun for the arrival parade, St. Nicholas Eve (pakjesavond), or as a shoe gift.

  2. Sinterklaas Festival in Ommen

    On Saturday, 22 November, the town center will be extra festive. During the Sinterklaas Festival it’s all about music, face painting, dance, and fun. The friendliest Piets are ready for photos, jokes, and games—and of course they’ll be handing out plenty of gingerbread nuts (pepernoten)!

  3. Pepernoten walk at Herberg De Klomp.

    Important news from Spain! Sinterklaas and his Piets have again made time this year for the Pepernoten Walk at Herberg De Klomp. A cozy family outing with games, challenges, chocolate letters, a pancake when you get back, and of course lots of pepernoten.

    When: Sunday, 23 November, start between 11:00 and 13:00

  4. Sinterklaas Dinner Shows at De Wolventuin

    At Pancake Restaurant De Wolventuin you can enjoy a delicious meal and a cheerful show by Bob & Babet. There’ll be singing, laughter, and of course Sinterklaas himself will stop by with his Piets. A celebration for young and old, perfect for keeping the Sinterklaas spirit alive together.

  5. Piet Crew | The Cuddle Piet

    An interactive, magical performance full of humor and relatable moments. Even the Piets have a favorite cuddle toy—but what if it suddenly disappears? Luckily, Sinterklaas comes to help… which, of course, brings a few surprises too.

    Where: Theater Carrousel, Ommen
    When: Wednesday, 26 November, 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
    Price: €12.50 per child (includes one free parent)

  6. The Big Sinterklaas Show

    While Eefje is still sleeping soundly, a very special day is dawning: Sinterklaas is once again coming by steamboat over the Vecht! Piet has already traveled ahead and is keeping in touch with Portopiet via his walkie-talkie. Everything seems to be going perfectly... Together with Bultje, Gijs and Eefje, he gets ready for the big moment.

    “A day on the Vecht,” Piet sings, “what a wonderful day for a carefree celebration!” But then something goes wrong on the boat! They see something in the water… It looks like a rock… In the Vecht…
