September is perhaps the most beautiful month to get on a bike in Ommen.
The summer sun gives way to that fine late summer light, the heather is still in bloom and the forests are slowly turning warm. And where better to experience this than from one of the top campsites in the Vecht valley?
September is perhaps the most beautiful month to get on a bike in Ommen. The summer sun gives way to that fine late summer light, the heather is still in bloom and the forests are slowly turning warm. And where better to experience this than from one of the top campsites in the Vecht valley?
Several campsites organize special cycling packages in the first week of September. So you will not only enjoy comfortable overnight accommodations, but also fully catered routes, tasty extras along the way and plenty of fun afterwards.
And fair is fair: there is almost no better way to discover Ommen than by bicycle. With winding paths along the Vecht, moors on the Lemelerberg, the idyllic hamlets of Beerze and Junne (where the Walking Route of the Year 2025 was chosen), and the ancient Junner Koeland, there is always a surprising piece of landscape to discover.

Lemeler Esch
Three varied routes take you along streams, forests and heathlands. Including picnic tips, a voucher for coffee and cake in the Boscafé and a drinks board afterwards. Extra fun: along the way, Roos from reception shares the most beautiful spots and stories via short videos.
The Koeksebelt
Here it's all about comfort and conviviality. You get great cycling routes, but also entertainment in the evening and of course access to the swimming pool. So you can combine active cycling with relaxation at the campsite.↵.
The Little Wolf
Every day a different tour of about 40 kilometers through the most beautiful part of Vechtdal. Cycling at your own pace and in between fun activities such as aquafit or a game of jeu de boules. In the evening, you can enjoy a meal at De Wolventuin restaurant or take a dip in the swimming pool.
Ommerland
With the Bike & Enjoy package you are truly pampered. Think breakfast, take-away lunches and three-course dinners. The routes take you along 30 story points where you can listen to special regional stories, told by well-known Vechtdallers. Besides cycling, there are plenty of reasons to take a break. Walk the Panelenpad through the center, taste local delicacies such as the famous Zuute Plassies, and visit (one of) the municipality's five mills. The many farm stores and estates are also a must for taking home a bag full of local produce.
