A lot happened in this period with many invitations from abroad such as England, France, Italy, Thailand and Malaysia but especially in the Netherlands to promote the sport of kite flying and present their own creations. The connection of the Kite with Art is an important element for Space Art and partly due to the own designs an American Award was received for the most creative kite artist of 2017.
Workshops and lectures are becoming more and more popular, Schools, Campsites and families from all over the country are taking advantage of this to strengthen the connection between them and collectively let their own creations take to the skies, a guaranteed success. We do this from Schiermonnikoog to Maastricht and of course at our own location (showroom no. 4) now at the Hardenbergerweg 1 Ommen. Again this is a temporary location, the desire is still there to give this more permanent structure.
The Cultural Historical Kite Museum exists 12,5 years this year and can be admired from the outside 24/7 and is open by appointment. Regional (TV Oost ) and national (Kro/Ncrv) Tv recordings of a.o. 'Zin in morgen' bring fans to Ommen. Saturday 5 July we are guests at Oases in Stegeren with a modest exhibition. Sunday afternoon July 6 we will be launching Kites at the Nature Playground Ommermars on the Varsenerdijk in Ommen, where we also organized Kite Festivals since 1985, let the elderly set a good example to be creative and play outside, the wind is free. Download here the flyer.
This whole year is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Ommen, Kite Flying stands for Freedom, for everyone, regardless of race, status or religion, with the finale in October: 'One Sky One World' , Global Kite Flying for World Peace.
