Summer beckons: the Ommer Bissingh is just around the corner!

And how! Because not just one week, but spread over several summer Wednesdays and weekends, the center of Ommen is buzzing with life, music, tradition and experience. For centuries the Bissingh has marked the highlight of summer in our town and this year too it promises to be a wonderful mix of familiar conviviality and surprising activities.

A tradition with character

Ommen and the Bissingh are inseparable. What once began as a farmers' fair in the sixteenth century - a day when trade was conducted, animals were judged and families met - has grown into an event that thousands of people look forward to each year. The horses have since disappeared, but the feeling of gathering, strolling, meeting and celebrating is still alive and well. And you walk right into it, with your sunglasses on and an ice cream in hand.

Something for everyone

The strength of the Bissingh lies in its variety. On different days there is something to experience. The fairs and the fair bring to life the liveliness of yesteryear - with local delicacies, handmade products and that fine feeling of old-fashioned browsing between stalls. For little Bissingh lovers, there's even a special Kids Day with games and plenty of wonder. And those who like a touch of nostalgia, sports or just a hearty serving of music will also find plenty to enjoy.

Because yes, the Wednesday music evenings have become real attractions. Every Wednesday evening the center of Ommen turns into one big party with performances on the Market, the Church Square and at the Varsenerpoort. From dancing until you drop to singing along endlessly and from intimate to exuberant; there is always a square that suits your mood.
