Opening renovated Panel Path

It is a household word in artsy Ommen, the Panelenpad, provided by artists of st. Vechtdalkunsten.

15 years ago, the first panels were hung in the center of Ommen. Huge colorful paintings of 2.5 by 1.25 meters, decorated the public facades. Enthusiastic reactions from residents, visitors and artists alike ensured that soon more panels were painted and hung. Support from the municipality was not lacking.

About seven years ago the panels were baptized Het Panelenpad. A path that leads you through all kinds of nice streets in the center of Ommen. Panels with cheerful scenes, paintings with a nod to the past and poems about the Vecht and art; nature around Ommen is often painted, but also views of the city and abstract paintings. So very diverse.

This year 11 of the 27 panels have been replaced; a fresh 'look' paintings often provided by younger artists. With a new flyer including a map. Time to festively open the renewed Panelenpad.

Former alderman in Ommen, Mrs. Ilona Lagas, today a member of the 1st Chamber, performs the opening. We are extremely happy about this, because with Ilona Lagas the Panelenpad once started. She was the enthusiastic animator of the colorful panels in the center. And now she is reopening the path.

Everyone is welcome to celebrate this joyous moment with us. On Friday, June 20 at 3 p.m. we will start at the renewed panel 1, at De Poffert (next to the Primera) and walk along the new panels. The creators of these works will be happy to tell you about their work.
