On the dairy farm of Chris Jansen and Froukje Kingma, in the middle of the Vechtdal, on the outskirts of Ommen, they produce daily fresh dairy products in a traditional way, using only milk from their own animals. On their farm, butter, buttermilk, custard, quark and yogurt, among others, are prepared by authentic methods. The cow always central!

The well-being of their cows is close to their hearts, purely from the conviction that you can only expect excellent quality milk from a vital, satisfied herd. The calves, for example, are fed their mother's colostrum as soon as possible after birth. This contains all the antibodies the calf needs to grow up into a healthy, balanced animal. In short: The cow is always central!

Educational taste sensation

A visit to Puur Vechtdal is in itself an educational event, especially for children. Because how many kids still know how it all works, from soil to mouth? In the spring, summer and autumn the cows walk outside in the meadow during the day. This is really enjoyable for the cows and for humans! Due to differences in feed, for example by having fresh grass in the ration, the composition of the milk also changes. For example, the butter is more yellow in the summer period, because fresh grass contains more carotene, which also provide more fragrance and flavor. A visit to the farm store already gives a good impression, and by appointment there is much to experience.
